The Basics to Cleaning Blue Sky Scrubs

The Basics to Cleaning Blue Sky Scrubs

When we first purchase a set of Blue Sky scrubs, the question is always, how do I keep them clean so that they last forever, ever? Well honestly, it’s really quite simple! Scrubs were made to be easy to clean; it makes the uniform far more efficient. Below we’ll outline a few tips on keeping your Blue Sky scrubs in tip-top shape!

Pre-Wash After Buying

This is always a good practice. Pre-wash your scrubs after your purchase them to let the colors set in, and of course to properly sanitize them before you wear them into work. Always set the washer to hold as much water as possible (giving your scrubs extra space to move around and rinse), and add in about half a cup of vinegar as an environmentally-safe disinfectant.

Follow Proper Washing Instructions

Always check the labels on your clothing for washing instructions! Assumptions are never safe when it comes to laundry. Our scrubs should be washed in cold water, and if you choose to put them into the dryer as opposed to line-drying them outside or in the laundry room, tumble dry them on a low setting.

Quick Stain Removal Tips

If you don’t carry a detergent pen with you, that’s okay! There are plenty of other ways to remove stains from your scrubs. Bring them home in a wet bag or a ziploc bag, and try one of these tactics:

  1. Hydrogen Peroxide

This one works best for blood stains, and we imagine you’ll encounter some of those along your journey. Pour peroxide onto the stain, or soak the scrub top/bottom- it won’t hurt. Wait until the stain has lifted, and then launder as normal.

2. Water + White Vinegar

Mix a tablespoon of vinegar with ½ cup of warm water. This works best for sweat stains, but works on a multitude of other stains, too! It may have a stench to it, but it works wonders. Visit us to learn about the blue sky scrubs story.
