Is Your Lab Coat Starting To Get Too Old?

Posted by

A professional, comfortable and well-designed lab coat is an important part of any medical outfit. But when you’ve already had a lab coat for a few years, they may begin to get old, just like most other scrubs clothes. So what should you look for as signs that your lab coat is in need of replacement? Well, we’re here to help you identify the signs that you need to look out for.

Is It Stained?

First of all, make sure you check your lab coat for stains often. Since medical professionals work long, grueling shifts, one common stain that you’ll see on lab coats are yellow armpit stains that appear over time due to sweat. If your lab coat has stains like that, and traditional cleaning methods can’t seem to get it out, you might want to think about replacing it altogether.

Is It Starting To Tear?

The next thing you need to be concerned with is checking for signs of wear and tear on the lab coat, like torn seams. The seams may rip and tear open easily after excessive daily use, and if that does happen, you most likely will want to replace your lab coat soon. If you want to maintain a professional scrubs appearance in the workplace, having a nice, intact lab coat is a good idea.

Does It Fit Right?

When you try your lab coat on and you think to yourself that it's either too small or too baggy, that’s another sign that you need a new one. Move around while looking in the mirror, pay attention to how you look and feel as you move in the coat. If you’re not absolutely in love with your lab coat, why keep it? You need to wear something that makes you comfortable and confident. When you’re looking for that perfect new lab coat, check out some of ours! Just visit the Blue Sky Co. website to get started.
