The Austin Police Department is promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a pink car. The car was wrapped pink by the Graphics Guys, who donated $3,000 in time and materials. Austin area citizens will see the car patrolling throughout the month of October. View photos at the Graphics Guys website.
blue sky scrubs will continue their year round support of Project Blue Sky. The Austin based company will send a free scrub hat to a cancer patient or the customer. As reported on their website, Blue Sky recognizes that one of the biggest fears of cancer patients is hair loss and changes to their physical appearance. Blue Sky wants to help bring a smile to cancer patients during their treatment.
The NFL is showing their support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink all over the field (and their homepage). Pink gloves, towels, shoes, pom poms, and referee whistles, among other items, can be seen in games this month. They are even displaying the pink ribbon logo on the field. Fans can bid on exclusive pink items at NFL Auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. There are also links on the page promoting cancer screenings and awareness.
Cartoonists are also getting in on the action. Over 50 comic strips will be printed in pink on Sunday October 10 across the country. A collection of the cartoons will be displayed on ComicsGoPink where donations can be made.
